Can you imagine lasting eternity with a deteriorating body, soul, and spirit? Sin made man weak. But Jesus redeemed the spiritual health that was taken away by sin. Jesus accepted all the whips, blows, and torture just to restore was taken away from man. He allowed himself to be brutally wounded and bruised so that healing can be given to man.

But not because healing has been made available by Jesus that man can abuse his body and pray that God will restore his health back afterwards. No, it does not work that way. There is this thing called the law of rest. The promise of healing is not a license for a man to abuse and neglect his health. It is also not an excuse to sin and allow it again to destroy one’s soul and spirit.

Another thing is keeping the body from doing what displeases the Lord. Bear in mind that a man’s body is the temple of God’s Holy Spirit. This is more than enough reason for a man to keep his body healthy. While healing and refreshment are always available through Jesus, the responsibility to keep and maintain one’s physical and spiritual health still lies in you. So you must keep your body healthy and control it from doing what the bible considers as sin. As Paul said in the Bible, “I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should.”
