Jesus Christ made it clear that he wants people to remember to partake in his body and blood. He wants the people to remember that they are always welcome to eat the symbolic bread and wine, that they may be saved. There is evidence of this in the Bible.

In 1 Corinthians 11:24-25, it is written:

“…When He had given thanks, He broke [the bread] and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ In the same manner He also took the cup [of wine] after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me’”

In the passage above, Jesus is clearly using the bread and wine as a symbolism for his body and blood. He expresses his wish for the apostles to continue the tradition of the breaking of the bread, in memory of him. This is why many people participate in the Holy Eucharist.
