Bill Hamon is the founder of the Christian International Ministries (700 Club, 2011). In Hamon’s ministry, they believe that Christians will move in government and in the marketplace, similar to how prophets Daniel and Joseph in key places and times. Bishop Bill Hamon has a vision for the church and its role in raising up and equipping the people of God in their gifting and calling (CBN.com, 2011).
According to Hamon, “Millions of born again, Spirit-filled believers who have been trained and equipped will prophetically speak the words of Jesus and demonstrate His miraculous power as witnesses of the Kingdom of God (CBN.com, 2011). The focus is not about building mega-churches. It is also not about focusing and being completely obsessed with the return of the Lord. It is about building a fruitful ministry that will win people to Christ.
Jesus talked about a fivefold ministry, by which specific roles were given to the disciples. Some were called to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Master Prophets are tasked to teach prophets. Their role is to oversee prophets from different churches. These prophets can also be pastors and evangelists, or teachers themselves. Regardless of where they are placed as prophets, they are required the same thing: to be born again, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to have a working knowledge of the Word of God (CBN.com, 2011). The equipment of the prophets is within the truth that Jesus has a great destiny for the Body of the Church.
Hamon viewed the prophetic ministry to be restored in the eighties and the apostles in the nineties. In the 21st century, he sees that God is moving to take these ministries into full force, in terms of intensified teaching, activating, and equipping of the saints (CBN.com, 2011). We see this in the terms of an establishment of the School of Prophets.
